University Housing is always working to improve our students’ experience all while maintaining our residence halls. Our in-house custodial staff are responsible for cleaning common areas in our residence halls. This includes lobbies, hallways, study rooms and communal bathrooms.
Bi-Monthly Bathroom Cleaning
Custodial staff clean suite and apartment style bathrooms between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays. Students are not required to be in their room during the cleaning.
Residents of these halls will receive an email at least two days in advance of their bathroom being cleaned. Additionally, to serve as a reminder, we will place a large sign on each floor the morning that we’ll be there to clean. Students are required to remove all personal belongings from the bathroom on the day of the cleaning. Staff will not clean around personal items and will not remove personal items.
We ask students to help our staff be the most efficient and effective as possible and allow them to clean the bathroom on the day it is scheduled. This will not only help keep costs down, but will also eliminate a follow-up visit.
Staff will leave a sticky note on the bathroom mirror indicating the areas that were cleaned (floor, shower, sink/vanity, toilet). If we were unable to clean one or more areas, we will return on Friday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to clean those areas. If during our second visit we are still unable to clean the area(s), the students will be contacted to schedule a time for the cleaning. Residents cannot opt out of the cleaning.
